The annual Safeguard national health and safety conference was held in May this year. If you weren’t able to make it along to SkyCity in Auckland you would have missed Worksafe’s CEO Nicole Rosie providing the latest observations and reflections.
She opens with an interesting statistic that you need to emphasis the positive 7 times more than the negative. This is because we’re all inherently pessimistic beings and will naturally hone in on the negatives.
People being people, you might say we have our work cut out for us.
But the overall message was one of recognising these challenges and moving forward, armed with the right tools. From Rosie’s point of view these tools are managing your critical risks, involving your people in health and safety, and showing leadership.
